Vittoria

A 19 years-old Vittoria Courfeyrac, my Les Mis's OC, in 1832.

[I tried to make her look like the portuguese actress and singer Sofia Escobar, that I usually use as faceclaim to imagine her, but I don't know how far I was successful in this ]

Vittoria Courfeyrac (September 26, 1812 - February 13, 1833)

Here's her bio 

Victoria (or Vittoria, for who prefers the italian pronunciation u.u) was born September 26, 1812 in Nimes, second daughter of Monique and Tomàs de Courfeyrac , three years after Her brother François. While she spends most of her childhood at home with her mother, Fra (this is the pet name for her brother) meets those who would become his closest friends: Étienne Combeferre , and Davìd Enjolras. The former, only child of a modest Parisian dressmaker , Marguerite, who moved into the Midi after the death of her husband; the latter, coming from a rich bourgeois family of Avignon. The three soon become inseparable and , sometimes , yielding to his capricious demands, Fra brings with him also the little sister. Vi is 11 years old when her father suddenly died because of heart problems, followed two years later by his wife, already ill for a long time and saddened by his death, leaving the two children orphans. We are in 1825 and Fra has to move to Paris to go to university, but with deep regret he can't bring with him his sister, too young ( 13 years old at the time): Vi should go to stay with an aunt in Provins for some time, at least until his brother turns 18. During this time, Vi will continue to write many letters both to her brother, and Etienne , with whom she had became close after the death of her father. Finally, in 1827 she went to live in Paris with her brother. It's here that one of the evenings when she follows Fra at Cafè Musain, she meets again Étienne. The old friendship becomes something more and they fall in love. The years pass and their relationship remains almost hidden. Fra pretends not to see , and the two take advantage of every possible opportunity to be together. More and more frequently she follows her brother to Musain, where, together with Étienne and Davìd, he meets with the Amis de l'ABC, (always waiting outside the inner room because women are not allowed in there) as long as they finishes, even late at night. Sometimes she comes out secretly, wearing old clothes of her brother, to follow Étienne and Fra at meetings and comitia, being careful not to be discovered by her brother. 

1832 came and Lamarque dies. Vi knew about the revolutionary projects of The Amis and, against the willing of Étienne, put on her male chlothes and decides to join the rebellion by his side. She will be on the barricade only for a very short, without anyone ever know her was there, not even her brother. Shortly after Eponine's death, Étienne forces her to go away: he does not want to see her die too. She agrees to go only when he promises to come back to her when it's all over, knowing he can not keep his word. Vi goes home, where waits for news with Marguerite, Étienne's mother. When comes the news that the barricade fell, she runs away, at the cafe, where she finds that the police dismantle what remains of the fort and collect the bodies. She find them in the cafè, side by side, and her entire world collapses. "You promised, you promised..." keeps on repeating, even after being forced away and brought to Marguerite. She's broken: she lost her love and her brother both at a stroke. But the doctor who visit her, tells her something that changes some things: she's pregnant. The pregnancy is what prevents her to let herself die in the next 9 months, alongside with the care and affection of Marguerite, for which the girl and her baby (her nephew), become the last reason of life after the death of the son. Victoria will give birth to her son, on February 13, 1833, dying shortly after due to complications of labor. The child, Danton, will be raised by his grandmother Marguerite like a son, and will take his father's surname...

This is maybe the saddest bio of a character I ever did... I'm so sad T.T

This character came out almost by chance one evening before falling asleep. She is one of the few characters of my own creation that I decided to make die even in the original story, something that I usually never do .

I really hope she does not look like a Mary Sue or something like that because I tried to make her as unobtrusive as possible: we can say she is one of those shadow characters whose presence or absence does not change anything in the story...
